We hope that this page is completely unnecessary. We assume that, if you want to put material on Kingswood Learn, it is thoroughly full of faith. However, we can get so into the weeds of our material that we falsely assume that everyone will automatically see the connection of what we are saying to faith. Rather, our videos and course material should breathe faith.
Integrating faith is more than simply “slapping a verse” on something. Referencing Scripture is, of course, much to be encouraged. But you can put verse references that are out of context or with connections that are not obvious to the reader. Deeper integration weaves faith into what you are saying and is not just a footnote.
Here are three ways to integrate faith with your material:
The easiest way to integrate faith into your course is in you as a person. You are a believer. You love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:30-31). Does it show? Does your manner breathe prayer and Scripture?
We aren’t always aware of our assumptions, yet our assumptions lead directly to how we think and how we live. We even bring assumptions to our interpretation of the Bible! A key way to integrate faith into our MicroCourses is in our assumptions. Hebrews 11:6 says that “anyone who comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
Does your course thoroughly assume that God exists and is engaged in the world? Does your course assume that Scripture is the word of God and God’s revelation for us in how to believe, love, and live? These assumptions might not only be implicit but also explicit at various points in your course.
There are many ways to apply a truth. Some are ethical; some aren’t. Two people can know how power works. One person can use that knowledge in a Christlike way; another can abuse it. One way to integrate faith with knowledge is in how you apply it.
The deepest application is transformation. Changed lives are far more important than putting knowledge into someone’s head, and having knowledge in your head doesn’t automatically lead to transformation. Keep that goal in mind of helping people encounter Christ and become more like Christ. It will result in a course that breathes faith.
