Assignment

Practice: Reflection on Passion and Vision

Completion requirements

Objective

For church leaders and members to embark on an introspective journey to discover or rediscover their spiritual passion, refine their vision, and prepare to lead change within the church community.

Materials

  • A blank journal or notebook for personal reflections
  • Colored pens or pencils
  • Inspirational scripture or Christian music
  • A quiet, sacred space within the church or at home
  • Bible

Steps

  1. Personal Testimony(Day 1):

    • Dedicate the first day to quiet reflection. Think back to the moments when you felt the most passionate about your faith or calling. Alternatively, think back to a point when you still had passion for a vision or mission in which you are engaged.
    • Write a personal testament, recalling your spiritual journey and pinpointing when and why your passion may have waned.
  2. Scripture Diving (Days 2-4):

    • Each day, focus on a scripture passage related to purpose, passion, vision, or calling. Examples include Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 29:18, and Romans 12:11.
    • Meditate on these passages, allowing them to guide your reflections on reigniting your passion.
  3. The Vision Mind Map (Day 5):

    • Centered on a page, write down your current feelings or vision about something you think God is calling you to do or lead.
    • Branch out with feelings, aspirations, or influences that contribute to or detract from this central passion or vision for this moment.
    • Over time, this mind map could be a visual reflection of how your passion and vision develops over time.
  4. Passion Interviews (Day 6-7):

    • Connect with senior church members or others who have inspired or experienced a passion or renewal of passion in their leadership journey.
    • Discussing and listening to their experiences can provide insights and inspirations for your own journey.

Other Possibilities

  1. Nature Meditative Retreat:

    • Spend a day in nature. Nature, in its purity, often allows for clearer thoughts and deeper reflections.
    • Use this time to pray, meditate, and journal extensively, seeking clarity on refining your vision and reigniting passion.
  2. Spiritual Mentorship (Ongoing):

    • Find a spiritual mentor or become one. This relationship can guide you in times of doubt and help refocus your vision.
    • Engaging in regular discussions, sharing doubts, victories, and aspirations can be an instrumental step in continuously refining your vision and passion.

Write up and submit your reflections to the platform.
