When you are born into a particular church (or if your faith was primarily shaped by one Christian tradition), it can be hard to be charitable toward other Christian groups. For example, although the Roman Catholic Church has acknowledged that some of its actions were wrong and out of focus in the past, many Protestants still assume that Roman Catholics aren’t really Christians. Similarly, it would be easy to assume that all of Martin Luther was automatically right in everything he thought.
Based on the material in this Lesson, as well as any other material you might research, critique the Protestant Reformation. Was Luther right about everything? What about the other Reformers? Were there any points where the Roman Catholic Church was not entirely wrong? Try to be objective.
