The Bible teaches us that God in the flesh, chose to die for humankind, so that we can have life. In other words, because of Christ’s death and resurrection we are able to receive forgiveness for the wrongdoings that we've committed; for sins that we've committed against others, ourselves, and above all, God Himself. His forgiveness is abundantly, limitless. No longer does a person have to live with guilt and shame.
The reason any of us being able to repent of our sins, be forgiven and receive the gift of eternity is because of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. The writer of the Gospel of John put it this way:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." John 3:16-17
Concerning the resurrection, Ethan Zent, a 4 th year student at Kingswood University, penned these words:
Without the resurrection of Jesus, the crucifixion was just another torturous death at the hands of the Romans. Jesus did not die just for the atonement of our sins; he defeated the hold of sin and death in our lives. Because of the resurrection, we are able to be adopted into God’s family, we are able to be called children of God. Because of the resurrection, we are able to find freedom from sin and temptation, from the chains of the Enemy. Because of the resurrection, we have the hope that we will, one day, spend all eternity with our heavenly Father.
