1. Discuss with someone how we balance tradition and innovation as Winfield Bevins, in “Tradition and Innovation: A Wesleyan model for the 21st Century”, encourages us to do. Record your reflections
2. In your own words, describe the difference between “tradition” and “traditionalism”.
3. Identify at least two areas in your local church practice that, you believe, are being held back by “traditionalism” in need of a fresh, innovative, and prayerful consideration. Reflect on how “innovation grounded in tradition” might help your church become more effective in those areas for the Kingdom of Christ. What practices should be addressed and changed? What old practices should be let go? What new practices could be adopted?
