Please read one of the additional readings before answering the following questions:
Record your observations and questions about what you read in “A Catholic Spirit.” If possible, share these with your pastor.
Reflect on this question: How can we maintain both unity while also maintaining our fidelity to the truth? Over the next few days, ask God to help you maintain this balance in your own life.
Are there any non-essential theological views that you hold with a “closed mind”? That is to say, are there any non-essential views that you don’t allow other Christians to disagree with you about? Seriously and prayerfully reflect on this and write down a list.
Do you struggle to love Christians who disagree with you on the views from the previous question? Consider specific loving actions that you can take towards those who disagree with you, particularly with regard to your “closed minded” perspectives. What would it look like for you to have a conversation with someone on this, and allow them to “let think” their disagreeing view? Again, remember that the “wrong” answer is to be silent and not have a conversation about it.
