Instructions

Now that you have completed the course, this MicroBadge will help you synthesize all your learning and submit your materials for a MicroBadge. In the practice sections thus far, you have:

  • Done a self-assessment on whether your public appearance matches your private character.
  • Drafted a preliminary plan for an individual worship service as well as a draft of a long term worship plan that ensures the congregation has a balanced diet of worship over the course of a year.
  • Created a checklist for you as a worship leader in relation to the execution of a worship service.
  • Evaluated a worship service in relation to a chosen metric.

Now for this summative assignment, create a “Worship Leader Guide” for your church. Imagine that you are moving to a different church, and you want to leave behind a resource for the worship leader who will replace you. This assignment can be aspirational, particularly if you are not currently leading worship at a church.

Create a guide that has the following elements:

  1. Spiritual Preparedness – in this section of several hundred words, identify the key practices that you advise them to engage in regularly so that their heart, mind, and body are healthy and ready to lead. Express your sense of the importance of these practices.
  2. Weekly Worship Plans – Present the typical (or aspirational) order and flow of the worship at the church on a Sunday morning. Give any rationale for any distinctive elements.
  3. Yearly Worship Plans – Identify the usual (or aspirational) practices of your church over the course of a year. This might include elements like the rhythm of communion or baptism. You might identify any practices of the church in relation to seasons like Advent or Lent.
  4. Service Tips – Develop the checklist you created in lesson 3, improving on it in light of finishing the whole course.
  5. Review Practices – Using the learning from lesson 4, create a checklist for best practices in reviewing worship services. Include the current metric that is being used for these evaluations.

Write up your work and submit it to the course. Congratulations!
