In this activity, we will create a detailed execution plan for achieving the SMART goals set in the previous lesson, including setting milestones and identifying necessary resources.
Instructions
Step 1: Review SMART Goals (5 minutes)
Review the SMART goals you developed for your hypothetical organization in Lesson 3. These goals will form the basis of your execution plan.
Step 2: Develop Execution Strategy for Each Goal (30 minutes each)
For each SMART goal, create a detailed execution plan. This should include:
Milestones: Break down the goal into key milestones, each with a specific deadline. Milestones should be clear, achievable, and critical for achieving the overall goal.
Resource Requirements: Identify the resources needed to achieve each milestone. This could include personnel, financial resources, materials, or technology.
Step 3: Document the Execution Plan (15 minutes)
Compile your execution strategies for each goal into a coherent document. Ensure the plan is clear and the relationship between milestones, resources, and overall goals is evident.
Your execution plan should be at most two pages.
Step 4: Contingency Planning (10 minutes)
Briefly outline potential challenges you might face in executing these plans and propose contingency measures to address these challenges.
Step 5: Reflect on the Process (10 minutes)
Reflect on the process of developing this execution strategy. Consider:
The practicality and feasibility of your plan.
How the plan aligns with the organizational profile and stakeholder interests.
Any insights gained about the planning-to-execution transition.
