Based on the lessons and concepts covered about Leading Change, the objective of this assignment is for the learner to design a strategy for implementing a significant change within their church or organization.

  1. Compile your strategy into a comprehensive document. Ensure it is clearly structured, and each section corresponds to the instructions given below.
    • Define the Need for Change:
      • Identify an area or process within your church or organization that you think requires transformation or improvement. This assignment can be hypothetical if that would be most beneficial or appropriate.
      • Justify the necessity of this change using real data or observed challenges.
    • Align with Organizational Vision: Indicate how your proposed change aligns with the overarching vision and objectives of your church or organization.
    • Framework for Delegation: Break down your strategy into specific tasks or stages that might be delegated. Make sure each task is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.
    • Stakeholder Interviews: If appropriate, interview 2-3 key stakeholders in your organization about their views on the change. This could include their perceived challenges, benefits, or suggestions. Incorporate their feedback into your strategy.
    • Strategize:
      • Sense of Urgency: Describe how you will cultivate a sense of urgency around the need for this change.
      • Empowering Broad-Based Action: Detail how you will ensure that everyone feels empowered to act on the change.
      • Creating a Vision: Illustrate the vision for post-change. How will things look differently?
      • Communicating the Vision: Outline a plan for how you will communicate this vision throughout the organization.
    • Resource Planning: Enumerate the tangible and intangible resources required to successfully carry out this change. This includes tools, technology, funds, training, information, or mentorship.
    • Defining Boundaries and Expectations: Clearly outline the boundaries within which stakeholders should operate and the expectations set for them. This ensures alignment with organizational standards and values.
    • Consequences and Accountability:
      • Discuss the rewards and recognitions for achievements and positive outcomes resulting from the change.
      • Detail the accountability mechanisms that will be in place to evaluate progress and outcomes.
    • Feedback Mechanism: Establish a feedback loop where stakeholders can provide updates, raise concerns, or seek clarifications.
    • Reflect and Iterate: Describe how you will periodically review and assess the progress of the change. How will you incorporate learnings and feedback into further iterations of your strategy?
