Capstone Activity

Look over your answers to the “Thinking It Through” Questions. For this capstone activity, we will ask you to submit your answers to the following 2 questions:

From Module 1, question 2: Read Hebrews 13:1-21. Identify three important thoughts that impact church leadership in this passage. For each thought, consider the following three questions: a) How does this thought impact how you lead in your church? How does this thought impact how you follow other leaders in your church? How can you best teach others in your church the importance of this thought?

From Module 2, question 3: Think about the phrase “Leadership Discernment Community”. Think about the word in that phrase that stood out to you as something you do well. List some tangible factors that show your success in that area.

Now consider the word that could use the most growth and development in your life. List some tangible steps that you, personally, can take to foster and develop that aspect of helping your board become a Leadership Discernment Community.

Finally, consider the word that you left out. How important is this area of leadership to you? Who are the people on your board that have strengths in this final word that isn’t an area of focus for you? If there are none, then perhaps this word is the true area of focus that needs to be addressed as a church board.
