Chapter 1 Assignment Questions

After reading Chapter 1 of the textbook, Healing Relationships: A Christian's Manual for Lay Counseling, complete and submit the questions provided below.

1. Think about some of the opportunities you have had to counsel. Were you aware you were in a counseling situation? Did you feel that you could handle the situation? 
2.  Do you agree with Carl Henry's comment on the importance of lay ministry? Why?
3. What is your reaction to Howard Snyder's suggestion, on page 14, that the priesthood of all believers involves each of us being priests to each other?
4. Did the research findings that lay counselors, in many situations, are as effective as professional counselors surprise you? Why?
5. What do you anticipate gaining from this course?
