Identify someone in your world who is disabled in some way. It could be a family member, a person in your church, someone you know in your community, or someone you might easily connect with virtually. It could be yourself! If it is someone else, set up a listening meeting with them. The purpose of this meeting is just to listen. Ask them whether there are ways in which the church or other aspects of life aren’t exactly set up to make things easy for them. Are there any times when people say things that perhaps unknowingly exclude them? What would be some simple ways that the church or the world could better include them or make things easier for them given their disability? Be sure to modify the questions so that they make sense (and aren’t offensive) to the person you are conversing with.
Write up your conversation, along with reflections on it, and upload it to the course.
