Introduction

This module introduces you to the study of theology. As the video for this module indicates, theology is about learning the language, the stories, and the practices of the Christian faith. It is a pathway to be more fully shaped and formed as a Christian. This module examines the various sources of our faith understanding, with the Bible as our primary source of truth. You will do some preliminary exploration of the story of salvation and ponder the extent to which sin clouds our understanding of God.

• Define what Christian theology is.
• Explain why learning Christian theology is valuable for a Christian.
• Delineate the key sources of our understanding of Christian faith and practice, not least the Bible.
• Explore the extent to which sin might cloud our understanding of faith.
