  • Lesson 3: Missional Ecclesiology

Lesslie Newbigin left for India as a missionary in the late 1930s. When he returned to England in the 1970s, he was shocked to discover that Britain had largely become post-Christian during that time. After going to bring the good news to a foreign country, he found that his own country now needed evangelization. This lesson uses his wresting with this problem in the United Kingdom to prompt reflection on what we might do as American society strongly seems to be moving in a similar direction.

This lesson aims to equip you to:

    1. Describe the legacy and thinking of Lesslie Newbigin in relation to post-Christian Britain.
    2. Apply his insights to similar trends in an American context.
