  • Lesson 2: Starting Conversations

People are not projects. We're called to love.

    -Dr. Jim Lo

One of the most difficult parts of witnessing is simply starting to talk to people. Many individuals struggle with witnessing because they're not certain how to begin a conversation. In this lesson, we'll look at simple tips for starting conversations, explore strategies for communicating, and practice responding in a variety of scenarios.

It is important to remember, though, that people are not projects. We're called to love them as ourselves. Consider this mandate from Jesus:

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
