  • Lesson 3: Lamenting is Biblical

This lesson aims to equip you to:

    1. Embrace the testing of your faith through trials with joy.
    2. Learn to turn to God in your own crisis, so that you can lead others to turn to God in the midst of their crisis.
    3. Learn that the heart of Christian counselling is the ability to cry out to God in joy and also in lament, with the result of being drawn closer to God either way.
    4. Identify the difference between lament and grumbling.
    5. Learn that Lament shapes our response to trials in a Christian way:
      1. It reminds us of His wisdom.
      2. It reminds us to trust God.
      3. It reminds us of God’s grace and love.
      4. It reminds us to help others.
      5. It reminds us to walk with Jesus.
    6. Learn the four primary elements of a lament:
      1. Turning to God in our grief
      2. Bringing our complaints directly to God
      3. Asking Him boldly to provide a solution while remembering His faithfulness in the past.
      4. Turning away from grumbling about it and choosing to trust God because we remember that He is trustworthy.
